Mavericks Fall Short, 3-2, at St. Louis
The St. Louis Lions earned a close win over the Houston Mavericks, thanks in part to William Bourdon. The St. Louis left-hander, who finished 4th in the PBC in wins with 12 last year, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. In 7.2 innings, Bourdon surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. It was the 7th win in 11 games this year for the defending champion Lions, who are picking up where they left off.

In the bottom of the fourth, Will Bruhn delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the St. Louis designated hitter hit a run-scoring single, putting the Lions in front, 3-2.

"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Houston manager Random Taek. "We just didn't cash in."
