Almost There: El Paso On Cusp of CQ Triumph After 3-1 Win
The El Paso Diablos moved to within one game of the Pro Circuit Cup, downing the visiting Las Vegas Aces at Inferno Field by a score of 3-1. Diablos right-hander Kevin Keeth had a strong outing in which he threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives the Diablos a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Cup Qualifier.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Diablos had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when catcher Edgar Gonzalez hit a 2-run single. The single came off Ron Mackowski and made the score 3-1, Diablos. Gonzalez went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs.

"I like our moxie," said Diablos manager Joe Peters.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Inferno Field in El Paso.
