Trident Field was the site of the home opener for the Chicago Union. The contest featured a prime matchup between Cortez Crus of the visiting El Paso Diablos and Dustin Baker of the Union. The final score was 10-1, the Diablos getting the win. Cortez Crus turned in the best performance.

Crus, who dominated for El Paso, earned the victory to move to 1-0. He was in control the whole game, scattering 5 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 5. Chicago batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Crus after the game.
