In a tight tilt between the Denver Cutthroats and the El Paso Diablos, Nick Manning was the deciding factor. The Denver right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Manning, who finished 5th in the PBC in innings pitched with 164.2 last year, went the distance for Denver. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. The win moves Denver to a record of 4-4.

In the bottom of the 6th, shortstop Mario Sanchez gave Denver the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Cutthroats had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out single off El Paso pitcher Kyle Haley changed that -- and Denver went on to win.

"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Manning. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
