Thunder Earn 6-5 Win Versus Blues
Tampa Bay beat New York City at The Thunder Bowl, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Gil Lazo. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Tampa Bay reliever Melvin Palacios, now 1-0. The loser was Victor Gonzalez. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Thunder hope to make a postseason run.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the 11th. With Tampa Bay trailing 5-4, Lazo jumped on a fastball from fireballing right-hander Victor Gonzalez and hit a 2-run home run to left. With one swing, the Thunder had a walk-off win.

"Took some scratching and clawing," said Lazo. "But we got it done."
