Adam Bianco pitched well, but his team, the Tampa Bay Thunder, still dropped a 4-1 decision to the Houston Mavericks at The Thunder Bowl. The winner in relief was Nick Burgard. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 4.1 innings. The slumping Thunder have lost 7 straight.
Houston used the timely hitting of Cesar Rodriguez to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mavericks on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Tampa Bay manager Ray McKay.
