Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Houston Mavericks and Tampa Bay Thunder.

The Houston Mavericks managed to get by the Tampa Bay Thunder, 5-4, at The Thunder Bowl. Houston pitcher Matt Beissel set himself apart with his performance. Earning his 8th save of the year was Jayden Johnson.

Tim Platt provided a timely hit. The Houston first baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mavericks on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in the game, but he made it count.

"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Beissel. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."

The Thunder, at 21-21, have lost 6 straight games.
