Dusty Lang of the Dallas Texans was on top of his game.
The 24-year-old tantalized the Denver Cutthroats with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 5-0.
"He had the changeup working," Denver manager Tyler Montgomery said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Dallas hurler had 6 strikeouts, gave up 3 walks and surrendered 4 hits in his complete-game effort.
Lang told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
On the year, Lang has worked 39.2 innings with 39 strikeouts en route to a 2-1 record and 2.95 ERA.
