The first-place Detroit Motors took on the New York City Blues in front of a spirited crowd.

The New York City Blues had to reckon with Detroit Motors hurler Geoff Becker. Becker, the 10th overall pick in the 2012 draft, overwhelmed the opposition in the 9-0 Motors triumph. The win puts Detroit at 14-3.

The Blues had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Motors going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old second baseman Carlos Cortez came to the plate. Cortez hit a 2-run double on a 0-1 changeup from New York City hurler George Spence. It was Cortez's 8th double of the year.

"I just tried to make good contact," said Cortez.
