Aces Rebuff Cutthroats, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Las Vegas Aces and the Denver Cutthroats, Jim Jordan was the X factor. The Las Vegas right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Jordan yielded 2 runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 9. His record improves to 3-1. The defeat makes Denver 8-7.
Frank Rodriguez had a big 2-run home run for the Aces in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Las Vegas leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Tyshawn Dortch and swatted a home run to right. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Aces ahead, 3-0.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Rodriguez told the Las Vegas Times.
