With 5-3 Win, Peanuts Improve to 8-6
|
The San Francisco Peanuts locked up a win at Garibaldi's Grounds, knocking off the Los Angeles Knights, 5-3. On the mound for San Francisco was right-hander Asvarya Kabir. He played a major role in the triumph. The win brings the Peanuts to 8-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
Sergio Peniche had a big 2-run home run for the Peanuts in the bottom of the second inning. With San Francisco leading 2-1 and a runner on 3rd, he got a cutter from Josh Massey and swatted a home run to right. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Peanuts ahead, 4-1.
"We scored more than enough runs this time," said San Francisco manager Keven Berman. "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
