Aguirre Torches Cutthroats for 5 Hits Friday, July 5th , 2019 Carlos Aguirre was at the head of a Atlanta (R) Pilots hit parade at PBC Rookie Development Complex. The 18-year-old went to the plate 5 times and came away with 5 hits, but it was the Denver (R) Cutthroats that marched off with the 13-11 win. "We didn't have it today," griped Pilots skipper Mike Niemier following the game. "Carlos did fine, but as a team, we didn't do it with the bats and we didn't do it pitching." Aguirre did more than fine, dominating the Cutthroats at the plate during his record-making 5-for-5 performance. "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging second baseman told reporters. "When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." Carlos Aguirre walked in the 1st, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off Kevin McGee in the 9th.
