Cup Qualifier Goes the Distance, Houston (R) Prevails Monday, October 7th , 2019 The fans in Houston (R) are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Tampa Bay (R). The Houston (R) Mavericks finished off the Tampa Bay (R) Thunder 2-1 in the deciding game of the Cup Qualifier played at PBC Rookie Development Complex. They took the series 3-2 and will now head to the Championship Cup. For his standout play, Houston (R) shortstop Mikizo Ikegami was voted the series' Most Valuable Player. He batted .300, drove in 3 runs and scored 4 to lead his club to victory. "We could never really figure out how to pitch to Ikegami and that doomed us," said Thunder manager Brandon Land.
