Vela Humbles Boston, 1-0 Wednesday, September 4th , 2019 The Boston Battalion were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Hollywood Stars and hurler Jim Vela. Vela kept the Battalion confused all game, spinning a 6-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Vela," Boston manager Nick Robinson said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 27-year-old right-hander had 3 walks and 9 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Vela said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way." This season, Vela has a 12-8 record with a 3.29 ERA in 28 starts. View Boxscore |
