Aztecs Chris Tapia to Miss Year Friday, August 9th , 2019 San Diego closer Chris Tapia could miss the remainder of the season because of a fractured elbow. He exited yesterday's El Paso game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Tapia would be out 4-5 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that." So far this season, Tapia has chalked up a 3.34 ERA with 14 saves. In 47 relief appearances he has registered a 4-7 won-lost record and struck out 52 batters in 72.2 innings, while walking 27. He has allowed teams to hit .246 against him. |
