Velez Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits Friday, August 31st , 2018 Kyle Velez exploded for a barrage of base hits at Long Island Park. The Brooklyn right fielder had a field day in his team's 13-2 triumph over the Long Beach Titans, finishing 5-for-6. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Velez must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Kyle Velez doubled in the 1st, tripled in the 2nd, was hit by a pitch in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.
