Friday, September 28th , 2018
At the age of 26, Tony Belgrave of the Manchester Monarchs could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2018 was good enough to win the left fielder the Eastern Amateur Circuit Most Valuable Player Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .321 batting average this year, as well as a .416 on-base percentage. He played 120 games and racked up 135 hits, 24 doubles, 1 triple, 24 home runs, 72 RBIs and 81 runs scored.
He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 20. Matt Mills of the Providence Grays finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Alik Ramsky of the Long Beach Titans finished third.
