WSPC Hands Out Reliever of the Year Award
Friday, November 2nd , 2018
Brian Farmer of the Southern California Empires has been named the winner of the 2018 Western Semi-Pro Circuit Reliever of the Year Award.
The award comes at an opportune time too, as the 33-year-old is an impending free agent.
"You always hope to have this type of year every year, but it's pretty special to have it before I go to free agency, if that happens," he said.
On the year, the relief ace had a 1.09 ERA over 99 innings of work. He made 64 relief appearances and had 24 saves, 118 strikeouts, 42 walks and a record of 12-4. Opponent batters hit only .205 against him.
He received 20 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Oscar Chacon of the Las Vegas Rollers finished second in voting, while Miguel Vazquez of the Mexico City Aztecas finished third.
