Estrada Dominates Edmonton
|
Steve Estrada of the Calgary Caracals was on top of his game.
The 38-year-old tantalized the Edmonton Drillers with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 2-0.
"He had the changeup working," Edmonton manager Fernando Torres said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Calgary hurler had 13 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.
Estrada told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
To date this season, Estrada has a record of 3 wins and 3 losses and a 2.43 ERA. He has appeared in 10 games and struck out 73 in 66.2 innings.
