Atlantics de Bruin Sizzles with Cycle
|
Ferdie de Bruin was hard to stop but his Brooklyn Atlantics were not.
The Manchester Monarchs overcame a cycle by de Bruin to win, 4-3, against the Atlantics at Manchester Park.
"It feels good for me, but it would have felt even better if we had won that ballgame," de Bruin told the press corps. "I still enjoy it, but I would've liked to win the game, too."
He cracked 4 hits in 5 at-bats, had 1 run batted in and 2 runs scored. Although his team lost, the Atlantics third baseman will still get his place in the record books.
Ferdie de Bruin flied out in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Tomohiko Morimoto in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far this season, de Bruin has hit .231 with 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and scored 30 times.
