Figueroa 33-Game Hitting Streak Ends Thursday, September 7th , 2017 For 33 straight games, Rafael Figueroa tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy. Well, the 19-year-old Houston (R) Mavericks center fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the El Paso (R) Diablos. The Diablos held him hitless in 5 at-bats at PBC Rookie Development Complex and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 33. There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Mavericks took the win by the score of 5-3. "I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now." So far in 2017 Figueroa is batting .322 with 22 home runs, 61 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has 91 hits in 283 at-bats and a .391 OBP. |
