Sergio Pena Named R's Best Player

Sergio Pena took PBC Rookie Complex League by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 19.
For his spectacular campaign, the Detroit (R) Motors star has been named the 2017 PBC Rookie Complex League Most Valuable Player Award recipient.
"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the center fielder.
On the season he compiled a .364 batting average to go with a .459 on-base percentage. The native of El Progreso, Guatemala also added 20 doubles, 5 triples, 28 home runs, 74 RBIs and 61 runs scored.
He received 15 first place votes out of a possible 18. Rafael Figueroa of the Houston (R) Mavericks finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Carlos Cruz of the St. Louis (R) Lions finished third.
