Vela Is WAC's Best Pitcher in July Tuesday, August 1st , 2017 Jim Vela of Hollywood had a tremendous July with a 4-1 mark and was chosen the Pitcher of the Month in the Western Amateur Circuit. Vela restricted opposing hitters to 28 base hits and a .185 batting average. He rang up 45 strikeouts in 42.1 innings of work, surrendered 16 walks, and crafted a 2.13 ERA. So far this year, Vela has made 8 starts, tossed 58.2 innings, struck out 63 batters and walked 20. His record is 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .199 batting average. |
