Shoda Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Tuesday, July 25th , 2017 Masaaki Shoda was at the head of a Oil City hit parade at The Oil Field. The right fielder went to the plate 6 times and came away with 5 hits, sparking the Oilers to a nice 12-11 victory over the Fort Wayne Farmers. "I told the guys in the dugout, just be thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere," the sweet-swinging Shoda told reporters after the game. "Seems like it worked out well for us today." Farmers skipper Erik Tolbert said later that the club gave up "too much plate." "Not the way we planned it," he said. "Every hitter in the league will rip you when you do that." Masaaki Shoda flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. For the season, Shoda has produced 59 hits in 193 at-bats for a .306 average with 6 home runs and gotten on base at a .399 clip. View Boxscore |
