5 Hits for Stars Cortez Friday, July 14th , 2017 Fans at Stars Park got to see not only a home-team victory, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season. The Arlington Stars outplayed the San Diego Aztecs en route to a 3-2 win, but the standout was shortstop Carlos Cortez. Cortez netted 5 hits in 5 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line. "Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Aztecs manager Jason Thompson said in postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too." Carlos Cortez hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 10th.
