Aponte Outstanding, No-Hits Titans Tuesday, June 20th , 2017 The Franklin Knights were just hoping for a solid outing from Juan Aponte. Instead, they got something special. The 27-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Long Beach Titans, helping the Knights take the 6-0 win. "I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Knights. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special." Aponte's repertoire has a slider, changeup, fastball, and screwball, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Long Beach hitters off balance all game long. The Franklin hurler fanned 5 and walked 6 in his history-making performance. "His slider looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Long Beach manager Jimmy Herman joked after the game. View Boxscore |
