Hit Streak Over, Blues Stop Willerton Tuesday, August 23rd , 2016 Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 22-game hitting streak, Chicago (R) center fielder Cary Willerton went hitless in 2 at-bats at PBC Rookie Development Complex. The sudden hitting drought came as the Union snagged the 9-7 win over the New York City (R) Blues. "Nope, it's not magic," Willerton said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody jinxed me. Streaks don't last forever. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits." Willerton is hitting .325 so far this season with 38 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 81 hits including 7 home runs, 23 walks and .383 OBP. |
