El Paso, Chicago Agree to Swap Friday, September 2nd , 2016 It came down to the last hour of a self-imposed trade deadline, but the El Paso Diablos and Chicago Union finally came to an agreement on a trade that had been rumored for weeks. The trade sends El Paso's 38-year old LF Jonathan Thornton to Chicago in a swap for 21-year old minor league SS Jose de Leon and 20-year old minor league 1B Sung-hyo Ha. Both GMs seemed relieved that the deal had been completed with one stating, "We had to set a deadline to get it done." The players are expected to report to their new teams by tomorrow. So far this season, Thornton has gotten 27 hits in 98 at-bats for a .276 batting average with 6 home runs. His stats include 22 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has played in 28 games. |
