Houston could only muster 4 hits and draw 4 walks against the right-handed Williams, who controlled them throughout the game. St. Louis won the contest, 2-0. Williams added 8 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Williams told reporters after the shutout win.
