Almost There: San Francisco On Cusp of CQ Triumph After 1-0 Win
Cortez Crus pitched a gem to help the San Francisco Peanuts escape with a tight, 1-0 victory over the Las Vegas Aces in a low-scoring Cup Qualifier contest. The left-handed Crus threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Peanuts on a day when their offense dried up. San Francisco now leads the best-of-7 series 3-1.

Crus pitched a complete game for San Francisco. The left-hander, who calls Paraíso, Costa Rica, his home, racked up 10 Ks, while allowing just 3 hits. Aces hitters could not touch his fastball -- nor any other pitch, for that matter.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Crus said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Garibaldi's Grounds in San Francisco.
