Las Vegas got a decent performance from pitcher Ron Mackowski, but it wasn't enough to beat the St. Louis Lions. St. Louis won the Caesers Palace Colosseum contest, 5-2. Mackowski threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. St. Louis reliever Danny Gonzalez picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Ron Mackowski was tagged with the loss. St. Louis now sits at 44-44, while Las Vegas falls to 55-33.

Takahito Takemoto delivered a big hit for St. Louis. The third baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lions ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

Takemoto called the win "a pick-me-upper."
