Red-Hot Diablos Win Again
|
The El Paso Diablos beat the Denver Cutthroats, 3-2, at Cutter's Cove. The Diablos got a fine performance from first baseman Aaron Shelby, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Kevin Mooris was the winner. He's now 15-5. The loser was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Jordan. El Paso improves to 63-23 with the win. They lead their division by 9 games.
With El Paso leading 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Shelby hit a run-scoring single off Denver hurler Jim Jordan. It was the 96th hit of the season for Shelby and put his team ahead, 3-0.
In postgame comments to the El Paso Observer, Shelby said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
