Fowlkes Helps Detroit Bombard Boston
The Detroit Motors defeated the Boston Shamrocks, 17-4, in part because of catcher Curtis Fowlkes. Fowlkes was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 for the Motors. Iulio Faletau went 6 innings for Detroit to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs. He scattered 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. His record improves to 5-4. Xavier Walker closed the door for Detroit, picking up his 2nd save of the year.

Juan Galvan had a big grand slam home run for the Motors in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Detroit trailing 4-1 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from Abebaw Kiara and swatted a home run to right. It was his 8th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Motors ahead, 5-4.

Motors manager Sean Morgan praised Fowlkes after the game. "I keep telling everyone," he said, "'Don't go to sleep on this kid.'"

The 5th-place Motors now have a win-loss record of 27-29.
