The Miami Sun Sox picked up a win at Sun Sox Stadium, topping the Boston Shamrocks, 3-1. On the mound for Miami was right-hander Mark Brown. He played a principal role in the triumph. Miami has 3 straight wins, Boston 3 straight losses.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jose Cruz in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 24-year old left-handed pitcher Sam Payno to win the game for Miami. The home crowd went nuts.
"Mark -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Sun Sox manager Barry Lolicht. "He was the key to us winning."
