Mattson Goes Wild, But Sun Sox Win
|
Though he had a terrific game, Curt Mattson could not prevent his team, the Tampa Bay Thunder, from absorbing a loss. Miami won the game, 7-6. Mattson was 4-4 with 2 home runs and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The Sun Sox, now 3-1, have hit the ground running this season.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Brandon Davenport? The Miami second baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sun Sox on top, 7-6. For the game, Davenport had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
