Washington Offense Jammed Up by Thunder
|
The Tampa Bay Thunder downed the Washington Warriors, 6-1, at The Thunder Bowl. Stellar pitching by Melvin Palacios had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 6th in the PBC in wins with 4, handcuffed his opponent all game. Palacios, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 4 walks. The Thunder, at 12-16, inhabit 8th place in the PBC East Division.
The Thunder got a big at-bat from second baseman Frank Robinson. For the game, Robinson went 1-2 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Tampa Bay a 2-0 lead.
"I just tried to focus on getting that first guy out every inning," said Palacios.
