The Detroit Motors weathered a fine game by New York City shortstop Jeremy Shackelford to upend the Blues, 7-6, at The Motor Yard. Shackelford was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Dennis Garrison zipped up his 2nd save. By defeating New York City, the third-place Motors improved to 14-11.

Detroit designated hitter Nate Clark contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a sinker to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 28th hit of the season and put the Motors ahead, 7-2.

Clark told reporters after the game: "Took some doing, but we got it done."
