Keystones Turn Away Warriors, 4-3
|
The Philadelphia Keystones defeated the Washington Warriors, 4-3, at Warriors Park. Leading the charge for Philadelphia was second baseman Alan Calloway. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Picking up the win was Jon Sutton. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 4. Kadidu Akinshegun earned the save, his 4th.
With Philadelphia trailing 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Calloway hit a fastball from Manuel Parra for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Keystones ahead, 4-2.
Washington manager Angel Sanchez said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The loss puts Washington at 8-8.
