El Paso (R) Snaps Peebler Streak at 24 Saturday, July 12th , 2014 Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 24-game hitting streak, Houston (R) center fielder Chris Peebler went hitless in 4 at-bats at PBC Rookie Development Complex. The sudden hitting drought came as the Mavericks snagged the 4-2 win over the El Paso (R) Diablos. "Nope, it's not magic," Peebler said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody jinxed me. Streaks don't last forever. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits." So far this season, Peebler has gotten 37 hits in 113 at-bats for a .327 batting average with 5 home runs. His stats include 12 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has played in 25 games. |
