ABC Announces Outstanding Player Award

Ricky Alvarado took Amateur Baseball Circuit by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 24.

For his spectacular campaign, the Oil City Oilers star has been named the 2014 Amateur Baseball Circuit Most Valuable Player Award recipient.

"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the first baseman.

On the season he compiled a .368 batting average to go with a .497 on-base percentage. The native of Carolina, Puerto Rico also added 23 doubles, 7 triples, 8 home runs, 46 RBIs and 82 runs scored.

He received 18 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Mario Rivera of the Yuma Gnomes finished second in voting, while Jose Gonzalez of the Houston Apollos finished third.
