ABC's #1 Player, Gonzalez of Fort Wayne Monday, August 18th , 2014 No single hit brought Ramon Gonzalez Player of the Week honors -- the Fort Wayne Farmers first baseman corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said Gonzalez. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too aggressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. Gonzalez stroked 11 hits in 17 at-bats while cranking out 2 home runs, 2 RBIs and 6 runs scored. Currently Gonzalez is batting .258 with 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 35 runs scored. |
