Rivera Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Arlington Sunday, August 10th , 2014 Yuma left fielder Mario Rivera went 0-for-4 in Yuma's 3-1 triumph over the Arlington Stars, snapping his 20-game hitting streak. Rivera spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later." "I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though." When Rivera made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Stars manager Armando Garcia said of Rivera's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here." For the season, Rivera is hitting at a .379 clip with 9 home runs, 27 RBIs and has scored 40 runs. He has 74 hits, 22 walks and a .460 on-base percentage. |
