Johnston Will Play Football Instead of Baseball Sunday, November 30th , 2014 El Paso multi-sport star Shawn Johnston has decided to discontinue his baseball career and focus full-time on his football career. Despite his love of baseball, Johnston says he likes his prospects on the gridiron better than the diamond. "It was a tough decision, but I think this is the right one for me," said the Mavericks starting pitcher. Johnston, considered to be a standout wide receiver, is projected as a late 1st or 2nd round pick in the upcoming NFL draft. |
