Meyer Chosen 2014 SPBC Most Valuable Player Award Sunday, November 2nd , 2014 Corey Meyer of the Southern California Empires had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Most Valuable Player Award for 2014. The 36-year-old catcher put up a .268 average and a .417 on-base percentage, piling up 68 hits, 7 doubles, no triples, 24 home runs, 50 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He received 18 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Gabe Nelson of the Mexico City Aztecas finished second in voting, while Corey Williams of the Edmonton Drillers finished third.
