Vazquez Named Top Reliever for SPBC Tuesday, October 28th , 2014 Miguel Vazquez was a calming influence out of the Vancouver Grizzlies bullpen this season. His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 25-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award for 2014. The Colima, Costa Rica native won the award with 20 saves in 39 relief appearances, 87 strikeouts in 69 innings and a record of 7-3 to go with his 0.78 ERA. He received 18 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Ryan Matlock of the Southern California Empires finished second in voting, while Tim Bommer of the Green Bay Braves finished third.
