Meyer Cracks 3 HR for Empires Thursday, September 18th , 2014 Anyone wearing a glove and sitting in the bleachers for today's Empires-Admirals game had a good chance at snagging a home run ball. Southern California catcher Corey Meyer thrice sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir, helping lead the Southern California to a win, 12-3, over Quebec City. "Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub," Meyer said later. "I'm not going out there thinking I need another home run." Meyer, who is tied for 3rd in the SPBC in home runs with 19, was 3-for-5 on the day with 6 RBI. Corey Meyer hit a three-run home run off Mike Murphy in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Matt Reed in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Matt Reed in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. This year, Meyer is batting .261 with 59 hits, 19 home runs, 39 RBIs, 58 walks, .416 OBP and has scored 42 runs. |
