Hit Streak for Woodruff Reaches 20 Thursday, September 4th , 2014 The Tampa Bay Thunder may have proven to be mere mortals as they lost, 4-3, to the Boston Shamrocks, but Johnny Woodruff continued to hit like a god. The third baseman collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. "Woodruff is playing great and is on fire right now," Thunder manager Alex Pynes said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins." Woodruff was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." Johnny Woodruff grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, flied out in the 9th and singled in the 11th. In 67 games this season, Woodruff is batting .282 with 70 hits and 9 home runs. He has scored 34 runs and driven in 25. |
