Lions, Mavericks Play 10 to Settle Game 1, St. Louis Now Leads Series 1-0
|
One game in and the Play-in Series is already looking exhausting.
The St. Louis Lions and the Houston Mavericks needed 10 innings to settle Game 1, with the Lions finally taking the 4-3 victory at Mavericks Ballpark. Excelling in the win was St. Louis pitcher Paul Easterling, who threw 9.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The Lions and Mavericks are playing a best-of-5 series.
Easterling, a native of East Compton, California, was dealing all game. He kept Houston hitters off-balance, while giving the Lions 9 quality innings. Easterling threw 126 pitches, allowing 7 hits and striking out 12.
"Paul was cooking with gas," said St. Louis manager Leo Cruz.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mavericks Ballpark in Houston.
