Washington 36-15 After 5-2 Win Over San Francisco
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Washington Warriors take on the San Francisco Peanuts.
Starting pitcher Nate Kelley fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Washington Warriors stymie the San Francisco Peanuts, 5-2. Kelley, now 9-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 11, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The save went to Josh Pizzo, his 4th this season.
Raul Saldana had a big 2-run home run for the Warriors in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Washington leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Mike Ocasio and swatted a home run to left. It was his 11th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Warriors ahead, 4-1.
"It's a mindset," said Kelley. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
Washington goes to 36-15. The win puts them 8½ games up in their division.
