The San Francisco Peanuts knocked off the Chicago Union, 4-2, in Professional Baseball Circuit action at Garibaldi's Grounds. San Francisco pitcher and Vancouver, Canada, native Dave Carlson had an outstanding performance. Carlson, now 6-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Chicago has now lost 5 in a row.
Jeff Schroeder had a big run-scoring double for the Peanuts in the bottom of the third inning. With San Francisco leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a forkball from Jason Gross, the first overall pick in the 2006 draft, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Peanuts ahead, 2-0.
Schroeder called the win "a collective effort."
